As I prepare for my first show, it’s hard, hard work. And it occurred to me: there are no easy paintings. Every one is like a battle between me and the painting. And I am the underdog.
If I think I’ll just tweak it, it’s hard, because one tweak affects everything else. House of cards.
And if I think a painting needs a major rework … well, damn it. It always does.
Sometimes I think, the better you become, the harder it gets. There are just so many mistakes to make, and I guess it is my destiny to make all of them. The best you can do is try not to repeat the same mistakes.
